Comforts

Located strategically within walking distance of the church, our hostel is one of the oldest houses in the historical center.

Completely refurbished and redesigned, this pretty house with four floors is now a warm and comfortable accommodation for 15 people.

As travelers and former pilgrims, we wanted a warm and friendly atmosphere. It is our home and it is furnished and equipped as any house, intending to welcome you to your overnight stop, rest, share experiences and meet other walkers.

At the foot of the hostel, in the alleys of the village, you will find restaurants, shops and all services in the small fortified town.

Surroundings

“In the Basque Country, Camino de Santiago crosses a remarkable mountain called Puerto de Cize … To pass it, there are eight miles both up and down. Indeed, this mountain is so high that it seems to touch the sky; those doing the climb think they are able to touch the sky in their own hand…”

Similarly to the quote above, but of course in Latin, the French monk Aimery Picaud, described this stage in the first Pilgrim’s Guide ever written, and that was in the year 1135!

Millions of pilgrims later, the mountain is in the same place and the pilgrim is confronted with it when crossing to Roncesvalles. We must not close our eyes, the stage is serious with its 27 km and 1200 m of altitude. But we are there to prepare it with you, discuss it and thus help to transform this legendary stage in a great and wonderful time!
