Stage 13, Ourense - A Laxe

OURENSE

We start in the Roman bridge or Puente Maior. To go there from the shelter, we take "a Emilia Pardo Bazan" street, then we turn left by Juan Bedoya street, pass by San Lazaro Park, go straightthrough Concello street to get ahead the Court where we fin the scallop shells that indacate us to go through Roman bridge and cross the river Minho and climb up the avenue of As Caldas. near a park we find a bridge where a sculpture of Nicanor Carballo indicates us to turn right and continue along Santiago avenue. We get to a service station and immediately turn right onto Camino Real street and shortly after that we cross the N-525 to enter:

SOUTELO

We move straight climb up to:

CUDEIRO

We Continue uphill and cross a road to take a path to the right and continue the strong rise by a paved road. We leave a fountain on our right we pass the Hermitage of San Carlos and continue to an information panel that indicates we are 100 Km (100.147 Km) away from Santiago. We continue straight ahead to reach:

SARTEDIGOS

We go straight to a road to go to the left at the convent of Clarisas and then we turn right onto a path leading to the N-525, which we will continue on the right side for about 150 meters to take a path to the right, where we reach the highest height since Ourense, and then go down to a secondary road that we cross to enter Boveda. Then a track goes down through the woods to take us to the N-525, and after crossing it we reach:

TAMALLANCOS

We get to a fountain which we leave on our right and we pass before some orreos. A few hundred meters beyond we enter:

BOUZAS

When entering the village we can see a church on the left. We cross the N-525 and turn right to continue in parallel with the national raod. We leave Bouzas through an asphalted track to cross a road and go straight to:

SOBREIRA

At the exit of the village we follow the indications of an information panel, pass the Roman bridge over the river, cross the village in ruins and go straight up to:

BIDUEDO

From here we continue until the N-525, which we cross at the Km 258 to go around it in parallel through its right side to reach:

A CASANOVA

We continuie advancing in parallel to the national road until some Stations of the Cross that we leave to the right to keep advancing in the same direction. After passing under the road that gives access to CEA we cross a bridge over a stream and enter:

CEA

In CEA we have two possibilities: follow the traditional route and head to Castro de Ozon, or make a detour to the Monastery of Oseira. We choose this last one, the detour to the Monastery of Oseira. We start from Plaza Mayor and follow the arrows, we cross the ring road of the city, pass before a football field that we can see on the right and take a track, also to the right, until a road which we will follow to reach:

SILVABOA

At the exit of the village we get to a road, which we cross to get back to it a little further, and then we continue through it to get to:

PIELAS

From Pielas to the Monastery of Oseira the journey is made by road.

OSEIRA

In this monastery besides sealing our credentials we can make an interesting guided tour. As pilgrims / bike-pilgrims, we will be presented with a board painted in oils by a monk of the monastery, as a reminder of our passage. We continue leaving the monastery and a fountain on our left and continue along a paved road that goes up to a road that we cross, and after some meters we will get to a road, then we continue on this road up a high rise to reach:

VILARELLO

We cross to the right side of a path with gates, that will make us go over a bridge and start climbing. In a crossroads not signposted with arrows, we keep going straight until get to a road that leads us to:

CARBALLEDINA

Turn left at the bus stop. We cross the village just continuing on the road, and finally we get to:

O OUTEIRO

This is the last village in the province of Ourense and we will pass before it without entering the town. We weill find crossroads with no signs, but the only thing we have to do is continue through the same path until getting to a road, which after crossing it leads us to:

A GOUXA

It is the first town in the province of Pontevedra. We cross the road after going behind the bar to get to another road that we cross to get near a very rustic agricultural hangar, then we turn right to reach the first houses of:

BIDUEROS

We continues straight until getting near a mill and from there we turn right to take a track. Then we will pass through three unmarked forks. In each of these forks we have to turn left until we reach the N-525. We cross the road and immediately turn right going around it and reach:

CASTRO DOZON

After crossing the village we go left to a small road that leads us to a church where we turn left to the N-525, which we cross to continue on a path parallel to the road for about 2 Km, then we cross the road again and continue to the left until getting to:

SANTO DOMINGO

Shortly after passing a restaurant we cross the N-525 again to get to its left side, and after climb it for about 1 Km we turn left to a road leading to:

PUXALLOS

We leave chapel on the right and go straight through an asphalted road to reach:

PONTENOUFE

We leave the village to reach a RENFE tunnel which is not taken but is left to the left to take a track to the right until the first houses of Barreiro, where we turn right on the road to go to

XESTA

We cross the town leaving a bar to the right and we cross a road straight ahead until finding another road to the left, which leads us to the center:

STATION OF LALIN

It is 3 km before the town of Lalin. We cross the road linking with Station of Lalin and we continue straight through a cement path that ascends. At the next fork we go to the right to exit Baxan and through the road we enter:

BOTOS Y A BOUZA

We cross the town until we get to a road. The road goes to the left of the antennas, and 1 Km after we come to a road, which we cross and continue straight through it to get to:

FONDEVILLA

We enter the town through the road. We pass in front of a fountain and leave the church and its cemetery. At the exit of the village we take a road on the left that goes to:

O CAMPO Y DONSION

At the exit of the village, after a curve to the left, the route continues across a grove and crosses a stream. Then we go straight to the N-525 to get to A Laxe.
